Heroes of Socialist Labor

Fifteen representatives of Baranovichi District were honored with the Hero of Socialist Labor title, the highest award back then, for services to the agriculture industry.

Aleksandr Bobko
Born on 12 February 1932 in the village of Dubrovno, Baranovichi District. From 1956 he was a foreman of the field brigade of the Pobeda collective farm, Baranovichi District.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 13 December 1972 for increasing the production and procurement of agricultural products and the labor valor shown during the harvest.
Died on 9 April 2021. Buried at the cemetery in the agro-town of Kroshin.

Boguslav Vilchkovsky
Born on 17 March 1928 in the village of Pogulyanka (now the village of Sorgovichi), Baranovichi District.
Participated in the partisan movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War (messenger and reconnaissance officer of the Kotovsky partisan detachment of the 25th Year of the BSSR brigade).
In 1959-1964 he was the chairman of the Iskra collective farm, Baranovichi District.
Died on 27 November 1964 in the line of duty. Buried in the village of Sorgovichi.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 22 March 1966 (posthumously) for services to the development of animal husbandry, the production and procurement of agricultural products.
Member of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR since 1963.
A collective farm in the village of Malaya Svorotva, a street in the city of Baranovichi was named after him. A monument was erected in the village of Malaya Svorotva. A stele was built on his grave in 1967.



Nikolai Velenko
Born on 6 May 1898 in the village of Zalesye, Baranovichi District.
A worker from 1939, a foreman of the field brigade of the Volno-Chernikhovo state farm from 1944 to 1946.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title in 1949 for a high yield of clover seeds.
Died on 21 January 1975 and was buried in the cemetery of the village of Volno. In 1976, a stele was erected on the grave.


Proskovya Gorbatsevich
Born on 10 March 1919 in the village of Kalchitsy, Slutsk District, Minsk Oblast.
Participated in the partisan movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War (head of the sanitary service in the Rokosovsky partisan detachment of the Frunze brigade in Minsk Oblast). In 1945 she graduated from the Minsk Medical Institute. From 1947 she worked as the chief physician of a hospital in Novaya Mysh, Baranovichi District.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 4 February 1969 for services to healthcare. Died in 1999.


Anisia Getsman
Born on 10 August 1915, the village of Kpasnogorki, Nesvizh District, Minsk Oblast.
Participated in the partisan movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War as a liaison officer of the Voronov partisan unit of the Zhukov brigade. Worked at the flax-growing section of the Voroshilov collective farm in Stolbtsy District in 1947 -1966.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 20 August 1950 for outstanding results in flax cultivation.


Nikolai Domenikan
Born on 1 March 1932, the village of Grutskovo, Nesvizh District, Minsk Oblast.
Graduated from Leningrad Veterinary Institute in 1955 and Communist Party School in Minsk in 1971. Head of the Volno-Chernikhovo experimental base in 1961-1964. Appointed deputy head of the Brest Oblast Directorate for Production and Procurement of Agricultural Products in 1964, later promoted to first deputy head of the directorate. Appointed first secretary of the Baranovichi District Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, Chairman of the Baranovichi District Committee of the Council of People's Deputies in 1973.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 5 December 1985 for increasing livestock output and fulfilling the 11th five-year plan ahead of schedule.
Died in February 2012.


Aleksandr Duduk
Born on 27 January 1929, the village of Nareshevichi, Kletsk District, Minsk Oblast.
Participated in the partisan movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War as a liaison officer of the Avangard special unit that was active in Baranovichi Oblast from September 1943 to July 1944. Secretary of the Krasnoslabodsky village council in Kletsk District, Baranovichi Oblast in 1944-1945. Director of the Red Banner collective farm in 1967-1972. Appointed director of the Mir collective farm in May 1973. Honored Worker of Agriculture.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 7 July 1986.
Died in June 2009.


Praskovya Kolola
Born on 20 March 1895, the village of Padkasovye, Novogrudok District, Grodno Oblast.
Worked at a flax growing section in 1949-1953. Deputy chair of the Lenin collective farm in Novogrudok District in 1953-1958. Worked at a flax growing section at the same collective farm in 1958-1960. Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title in 1949 for excellent flax harvest.
Died on 23 August 1976.
Buried in Baranovichi (cemetery on Zagorodnaya Street).


Anna Korpovich (Sukhorebskaya)
Born on 1 January 1938, the village of Bytkovshchina, Baranovichi District. Hired as a field farmer by the Bolshevik collective farm in 1955, as a poultry worker by the Gorodishchenskaya poultry farm in 1961, as a poultry worker at the Baranovichi Poultry Production Association in 1975.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 22 March 1966 for increasing production and procurement of poultry products.


Vasily Kocherga
Born on 14 October 1904, the village of Kharashevichi, Slonim District, Grodno Oblast.
Worked at the clover-growing unit of the Volno-Chernikhovo experimental base in Baranovichi District in 1940-1968.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 30 April 1949 for outstanding results in clover cultivation.
Died in January 1981.Buried in the cemetery in the village of Volno. An obelisk was erected on his grave in 1987.


Lilia Kuchur
Born on 7 September 1936, the village of Vlasy, Baranovichi District. Worked at the flax-growing unit of the Pobeda collective farm in Baranovichi District since 1951.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 12 December 1973 for outstanding results in flax production and procurement.
Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR in 1975-1980.


Tatiana Litskevich
Born on 16 June 1931, the village of Zalesye, Baranovichi District, Brest Oblast.
Worked at the Zalesye farm of the Volno-Chernikhovo collective farm (Volno-Chernikhovo experimental base since 1961) in 1952-1985.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 22 March 1966 for services in animal husbandry, production and procurement of agricultural products.
Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR.
Delegate to the XXIV Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1971-1975
Awarded two Orders of Lenin.


Abram Matskovsky
Born on 20 July 1917, the town of Klimovichi, Mogilev Oblast.
Participant of the Great Patriotic War.
Worked as head of the Pobeda collective farm in Baranovichi District since 1957
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 27 December 1976 for services in meeting the plan and socialist obligations to the production and procurement of agricultural products.
Awarded the Order of Lenin (twice), the Order of October Revolution, the Order of the Red Flag of Labor. Died on 12 October 1978.
Buried in the cemetery in the village of Kroshin.
A street in the village of Zhemchuzhny, Baranovichi District was named after him.
A stele was erected on his grave in 1980.


Sofia Patsukevich
Born on 8 August 1926, the village of Mitskovichi, Baranovichi District. Worked at the Zarya Kommunizma collective farm in Baranovichi District since 1950 (as head of the pig farm since 1961).
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title on 8 April 1971 for services to the procurement plan of agricultural and livestock products. Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR in 1967-1971.


Nikolai Svetlik
Born on 8 August 1904, the village of Polonechka, Baranovichi District, Brest Oblast.
Worked at the Volno-Chernikhovo collective farm in Baranovichi District since 1939.
Awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor title in 1949 for outstanding results in clover cultivation.

Died on 7 February 1987. Buried in the cemetery in the village of Volno. An obelisk was erected on his grave in 1988.
