Excursions, workshops and themed events will be held across Belarus to mark World Tourism Day, BelTA learned from the National Tourism Agency.
World Tourism Day is celebrated on 27 September. Ahead of the day, tourist information centers have prepared free events. In Minsk, organizers will hold the Favorite City photo competition for the best picture of the capital. Tours will take place at the Planeta Hotel, Pobeda cinema house, Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ), the Dinamo national stadium, Minsk Arena, the National Library, the Trostenets memorial complex and the Museum of Watchmaking. There will also be walking tours of the historic city center, a Behind the Scenes of the Theater tour and other activities. Workshops on the traditional vytsinanka paper-cutting technique will be held on 26 and 27 September.
In Gomel, free walking tours Heritage of the Gomel Land and Along the Road of Memory... will be held on 25 and 26 September. On 24 September, visitors will be offered a tour of a house church-museum dedicated to All Saints of Belarus.
In Brest, people are invited to celebrate World Tourism Day at the Brest Oblast Museum of Local Lore on 26 September and at the Museum of the History of Brest on 27 September. Visitors will have an opportunity to dive into the history of Brest Oblast from ancient times to the present day and learn how the city has changed over the centuries.
From 21 to 25 September, Grodno will offer a variety of educational routes visiting churches and museums. The sites on the program include Kalozha Church, Grishuk Arsenal Gallery, the Intercession Cathedral and the Museum of the History of the Fire Service. The program also features themed walks such as History with Taste, Grodno Angels, Favorite Grodno, and Jewish Grodno, among others.
The Zelva District will host an event titled Towards Adventure at the Berezhki recreation center on 30 September, featuring a quest and a sports and entertainment program. The Smorgon District invites visitors to sightseeing tours of Smorgon on 25 and 27 September, while the Kletsk District will offer the In the Footsteps of the History of Kletsk Land tour on 27 September. The Oshmyany District will hold an open day from 25 to 27 September, with a quest game Secrets of the Old Town on 25 and 26 September, a workshop on artistic decoration of Golshany gingerbread on 26 and 27 September, and the Through the Pages of a District Town’s History quiz quest on 27 September. The Korelichi District will organize a free tour titled There is Peace in Mir from 28 to 30 September. Tourists will also be welcome at the private Museum of the History and Culture of Mir and Jewish Life Mirsky Posad from 28 to 30 September. The Polotsk District will offer a free sightseeing tour of Polotsk on 25 September.
The excursions require advance registration, and the number of places is limited. According to the Minsk Tourist Information Center, registration for all excursions in Minsk is already closed.
